Welcome!
Whether you’ve come to this website because you’re interested in my work or because you’ve Googled the most random name you could think of, I’d like to welcome you to my online writing portfolio! This site is a one-stop-shop for all things Tanisha. Here, you will find my professional bio, my contact information and the various posts I’ve written for Jezebel, New Latina, Cosmo for Latinas, The Huffington Post, Chica and the City, and other online publications.
I am an enterprising online content creator and admitted news junkie!
At present, I am the managing editor at NewLatina.net and the celebrity/news intern at Jezebel.com. I also contribute to iHollaback.org and Manikmag.com.
At New Latina, I am responsible for maintaining the editorial calendar, managing submissions, coordinating contributors, developing original content and managing the brand’s social media community. I’ve edited, formatted and published most of New Latina’s online content since September 2012. Since then, the site’s monthly page views have increased 2000%.
At Jezebel, I contribute to the site’s popular Midweek Madness, in addition to aggregating headlines and contributing original posts to the site.
A self-confessed news junkie and pop culture connoisseur, I enjoy utilizing pop culture as a catalyst for discourse, new ideas, change, and of course, fun. I’m a diverse and engaging writer with experience writing entertainment news, fashion articles, opinion pieces and informational posts. I genuinely enjoy thinking outside the box and creating content that will get people talking.
I specialize in creating content for women’s interest/ lifestyle publications, as well as Latino interests/lifestyle publications.
I’m seeking an opportunity to join a fast-paced news organization that will challenge me, utilize my skills, and allow me to experience long-term professional growth. I look forward to an opportunity to put my news-diving and content creation skills to work.
A few fun facts about me:
I was the first to break news about DaM Legacy Entertainment’s offensive reality television casting call for “hot blooded” Latinas. My post was quoted by LatinoRebels.com, Babble.com, and The Huffington Post’s Latino Voices. The entire post was republished by Jezebel.com.
My personal essay “No Speak Spanish My Love” was recently featured on Cosmo for Latinas’ website.
I started as an editorial intern at NewLatina.net in September 2012 and was promoted to managing editor by December 2012.
I interviewed Archbishop Desmond Tutu when I was 14 years old!
I landed my 2005 Bust magazine internship and my New Latina internship via diligent networking and outreach, creating internship opportunities where none were being offered. I’m a go-getter!
I wake up at 5:30am every morning to gather, consume and share pop culture news. The early bird gets the juiciest news.
